Writing
At Oldfield Primary School, we want to create a love of writing so that our children have the stamina, fluency and skills to be able to write articulately and confidently by the time they leave us for the next steps in their education. Using a phased approach, from teaching ’Reading into Writing’, carefully selected thematic books are chosen to inspire and foster enthusiasm so that our children are introduced to ambitious vocabulary and writing techniques from an early age. We want children to think about the impact their writing has on the reader and use different purposes for writing, so they are able to write in different genres, styles and use different sentence structures for effect. We wish for all our children to take much pride in the presentation of all their written work, and to ensure they write grammatically correct sentences, and are able to review, edit and improve their writing to the best of their ability.
